95% of standard toothpastes are poisonous. Is yours? Do something about it.
We have been trained to brush our teeth several times a day to promote health. Ever read the ingredients or warning labels on your toothpaste? Most contain fluoride with a warning not to ingest fluoride. Seem odd? On top of your toothpaste many cities add fluoride to the drinking water.
Though the studies are disputed some reveal that too much fluoride can harm the brain’s development, weaken bones, cause kidney injury, or have a suppressive effect on the thyroid. Worried yet?
No need to worry about too much fluoride intake or healthy teeth and gums when you make this easy homemade toothpaste. Plus, making your own toothpaste saves money and the environment from wasteful packaging.
Make this toothpaste recipe below and share how it was for you.
Healthy Homemade Toothpaste (Vegan)
- 4 tablespoons of baking soda
- 2 teaspoons of coconut oil
- 5-10 drops of peppermint or clove oil (optional)
- 8 teapoons of water
Excluding the oil of your choice, mix all your ingredients in a pot at low heat (just enough for the coconut oil to become liquid). Stir until it starts forming a consistent paste. Turn off the heat and add the peppermint or clove oil and keep stirring for another minute or two.
Place the paste in a glass jar and let it cool. Simply store at room temperature and you should be good to go.
